Update:
Eagle UMC to Merge With Palmyra UMC
First a little history. The Eagle United Methodist Church voted this past spring to merge with the Palmyra United Methodist Church. The District Superintendent [DS] offered the idea of the merge as a way that assets of the Eagle church could be transferred to Palmyra and stay with the merged congregation, if Palmyra approved of the merge.A subcommittee of the Administrative Council worked on gathering information so that the Palmyra congregation could make an informed vote. Information regarding this issue was sent to Palmyra members who were asked to vote "yes" to merge with Eagle or "no". Of the 95 members who received the ballot 65% responded with a majority voting to merge.Since that time a taskforce consisting of members from the Eagle and Palmyra United Methodist churches has been formed and has begun to hold meetings to determine the details of how to move ahead with the merger.Confirming the Vote One thing that must be done is for both congregations to confirm their votes to merge. This will be done as part of the upcoming annual Joint Charge Conference and potluck to be held on Sunday, November 10th at 11:30 a.m. at the Palmyra church. We are asking as many members as possible from both churches to gather in person to confirm this important vote. Please come and take part in the fellowship of a potluck meal and the business of the church.
PS….
Two other occasions to take note of are Sunday, December 1st at 10:30 a.m. when there will be a welcoming service for Eagle members at the Palmyra church. There will be no service at Eagle that day.
And December 29th when a closing service will be held at the Eagle church at 9:30 a.m. There will be no service at Palmyra that Sunday. Rev. Ebenezer Insor, District Superintendent, will join us on the 29th.
